worth 1000

Posted in Uncategorized on November 9, 2009 by oddono

I feel like photo shopped images can go wrong really quickly especially if someone doesn’t know what they’re doing (ME!!!). I’m not a fan of excessive color, and that is what I see a lot of when people use. As long as the people take the pictures themselves, they can manipulate them however they want and I don’t consider that plagiarizing…but the whole idea of photo shop is still iffy to me. what I did enjoy looking through the images in worth 1000 were the more subtle pictures.  The obviousness or barely manipulated photos were the ones more beautiful in my mind. They made me question is that really real? did they make that?  and that’s what I liked about those particular photos.

Post Secret Website

A visit to the Visionary Art Museum lead me to the discovery of a website that I like and now visit weekly. At the museum I saw a lot of art that I liked, I’d glance at it then move on to the next piece instantly. Post Secret, an ongoing community art project (sent by mail) caught my attention.  Along the stairs leading up to the 2nd floor a bunch of “secrets” people had sent in to the artist Frank Warren were put up on the wall.  The concept of the project is that people anonymously decorate postcards and portray a secret that they had never previously revealed. There are no restrictions to what they send in. Juicy. i later found out that Frank Warren has a website that he updates every week with about twenty new secrets he selects to put up.  They are anything from inspirational, helpful and disturbing. Anyone can send them in…the website

reproduction of art

Posted in Uncategorized on November 9, 2009 by oddono

The mechanical reproduction of art changes (what I believe in  a negative and postive way) the reaction of the a large group of people when it comes to art.  A painting that has been reproduced multiple times and is widely known seems to lose its reactionary quality. The awh factor is removed along with the emotion and enjoyment of the experience of looking at a piece. Being so frequently exposed the social significance is lost, it because just another ordinary image.  I could go on and on with how i completely agree with this point and how it saddens me that the value of art is being lost in this sense…but times are changing, technology is evolving and there is nothing I can do about that. All these images have been posted on the internet for millions to see. In a sense I do appreciate the fact that everything’s just a click away. Want to see a Leonardo painting BAM there it is! But nothing will ever be the same as going to see a piece of art in person, to observe the mark of the artist in person. And no one can ever take that away.

what could be better than free

Posted in Uncategorized on November 9, 2009 by oddono

In the article Kevin asks, what could be better than free…The answer, Trust, Love, Companionship, Community. The internet copies every action, every character, every thought we make while we surf it.   communication is just a copy and click away.  Every bit of information has been copied from somewhere. and these copies are free.  So what can’t be copied…how is money made?  Kevin suggests considering  “trust.” “Trust cannot be copied. You can’t purchase it. Trust must be earned, over time. It cannot be downloaded. Or faked. Or counterfeited (at least for long). If everything else is equal, you’ll always prefer to deal with someone you can trust. So trust is an intangible that has increasing value in a copy saturated world.”

beautiful object

Posted in Uncategorized on November 9, 2009 by oddono

I’d have to say that a beautiful invention would be the trashcan. Not so much because it itself is an object of beauty, but because it keeps its surrounds more beautiful, pleasant and clean to be around. Having a trashcan in my room takes laziness to an all new level, I’m not required to get up out of my bed every time i have something to throw away…from food, to painting supplies, makeup wipes and so on. The only thing that is required of this object is it being emptied out every week or so. conveniently beautiful!

Flash is software for viewing animations and movies using computer programs such as a web browser; in common usage, place animation and movies on a web site.  Flash Player runs  files that can be created by the Adobe Flash. Flash refers to both a multimedia authoring program and the Adobe Flash Player it can mean either the authoring environment, the player, or the application files. A video that i found and liked is from the new upcoming Alice In Wonderland.

i believe that all of the following websites would be hypertexts. they all involve the viewer to interact with text, image, or a particular area. technically anything on the internet could be considered a hypertext.

1000 true fans

Posted in Uncategorized on September 28, 2009 by oddono

To have a thousand true fans would be mind blowing.  For them to truly know my work, and follow what i do and why i do it, would be refreshing. many “fans” are attracted to the popular mainstream stuff, thats not what i would want or be proud of. to stay in contact with my fans i would try to keep it on a more personal level and do it by mail (if i have time) or through a blog…where I, as well as them, post their thoughts and comments on my work.
